Specialties for opto-sensor technology
Optoelectronic sensors fulfill a wide variety of measurement tasks. Often only application-specific designs or the use of pure LED and detector chips, also called "bare dice", provide a sufficient solution for the sensor to be used. Suitable components are often not to be found on the market.

The optoelectronics specialist Chips 4 Light closes this gap with high-quality LED components optimized for industrial applications and a wide range of LED and detector chips of different sizes, performance classes and in the often necessary small and medium quantities.
Developers of precision sensors are often looking for components with special properties. Individual framework conditions such as limited space and high ambient temperatures make it difficult to use standard components or sometimes LED components that are too large. Among other things, the radiation characteristics of the LEDs or the homogeneity and size of their light spot influence the quality of the detection of objects or positions. Components with the exact desired characteristics are not always available on the market.

In order to meet special design requirements for optoelectronic sensors, the pure LED semiconductor chip, in contrast to the larger LED component, often offers the better opportunity to follow the customer's wishes. The chip allows, among other things, to keep the design very small or to realize different functions on one board by combining several chips.
Another advantage of chips is their higher temperature resistance, whereas this is often limited with LED components due to the package materials. Designers can also add their own optics or combine different types of bare die into chip-on-board modules. High-efficiency infrared and red chips in thin-film technology with 940, 850 and 650 nanometers (nm) are ideal for sensors. Blue light is also increasingly being used in opto-sensor technology.
Chips 4 Light offers a broad portfolio of high-quality LED chips.

The LED chip portfolio is supplemented with chips of fast, low-noise photodiodes of various sizes in the sensitivity range of 400 - 1600 nm and with phototransistor chips that deliver high signals even with small chip areas due to their good gain. The portfolio also includes special variants such as photodiodes for the detection of ambient brightness, whose spectral sensitivity is maximum at green wavelengths, but strongly suppressed in the infrared, or a special type with a bandpass filter at 850 nm.

In addition to the sale of LED chips, Chips 4 Light develops customer-specific LEDs and LED modules. One such market-specific development is the product family of blue point light sources, e.g. with the
LA PL240RBD. The compact LEDs are particularly convincing with their high current carrying capacity combined with good efficiency and high operating temperatures. The beam path is not disturbed by a bond pad or bond wire.

With its many years of experience and high level of technical expertise, Chips 4 Light is able to realize demanding projects together with its customers. In addition to design support, the company also offers services such as die grades and long-term chip storage. According to customer specifications, chips can be sorted in small and sample quantities from wafers to other carriers.
